What I Do at SSU:
I teach English Composition courses on campus that center on themes associated with American myths and ideologies perpetuated in various genres of non-fiction, popular culture, Television, Film and New Media. I invite the students in my classes to insert, question and grapple with their own "lenses" (or rich personal histories) during every stage of the learning process. It is my hope my students will develop their unique academic voices while reading across multiple disciplines, gaining fundamental college critical thinking and writing skills, as well as learn to collaborate with their peers. I also offer TA units and mentorship (to Upperclassmen and Graduate Students in good academic standing) interested in gaining leadership and/or teaching experience tailored to their individual academic goals.
Additionally, I am the Faculty Advisor for Best Buddies (link here) and currently serve as the Lower Division Composition Professional Development Coordinator for our department.
