Life since graduation has been strange - as it was in the months leading up to graduation as well, really. But I am no stranger to strangeness, having finished my degree amongst multiple wildfire disasters and now a global pandemic. Still, there was room for good news and unexpected surprises even locked away in my tiny apartment. Since finishing my degree, I spent many weeks polishing my resume and sending applications and cover letters to upwards of five or six companies a day. After a long process,I recently secured a position working as a Content Manager on contract for hire at a small game company that produces interactive mobile fiction games called FableLabs - I was one of two hires they moved forward with out of over five hundred applicants! I am now learning and implementing an entirely new-to-me coding language and writing scripts for upcoming games, along with handling marketing copy and other tasks assisting our contract writers, all from the safety of my home office. I think of SSU often, and I apply the skills I learned there - time management, critical thinking, project management, and more - to my work on a daily basis. I hope to secure a permanent position while I continue to write my own fiction on my off time, and to move into a house with my partner of eleven years someday soon!
